Former real estate executive William Deyesso has turned his attention to the world of insurance, and now serves as CEO of Buyer’s Choice Inc. William Deyesso also gives charitably to a variety of causes, including Camp Timanous in Maine.
A local favorite for wholesome outdoor education, Camp Timanous in Raymond, Maine has been open to boys for just shy of 100 years. The nonreligious camp is dedicated to character building, focusing on good citizenship, courtesy, respect, and responsibility over seven weeks at the camp, or half of that time if families prefer.
Each summer campers develop these important character skills through shared activities including archery practice and music lessons. Students also take advantage of a full woodshop, learn to tie-dye, and even weave baskets.
When they come in from a day of fun, campers bunk with a dozen other boys and counselors in one of ten simple wood cabins. Without electricity or cell phones, campers build relationships by sharing stories and enjoying nature together.
The CEO of Buyer’s Choice Inc, William Deyesso is an experienced insurance professional with a background in real estate development. Outside of his professional life, William Deyesso is a supporter of Camp Tinamous, an overnight summer camp which focuses on helping boys between the ages of eight and 15 grow into independent men through participation in social activities with their peers.
During the weeks that a young man spends at Camp Tinamous, he is able to engage in activities which take place across 175 acres of property in southern Maine. Sports-minded individuals may enjoy playing on the camp’s basketball, baseball, or soccer teams, while others may prefer taking lessons in archery or riflery. Artistic young men may be interested in bringing their instruments with them to camp and forming bands, or completing handmade projects such as clocks, chessboards, or furniture in the camp’s arts and crafts class.
Apart from the available activities on land, boys may participate in waterfront activities on the 1450-acre Panther Pond. Daily pursuits on the water include sailing, canoeing, waterskiing, fishing, and swimming. In addition, campers are also able to experience offsite camping trips, concerts, and local field trips.
